Tuscany and Cinque Terre – 1st – 8th October 2019 8 days £2195.00 (deposit £250.00) – sold out
This classic Italian photo adventure combines two beautiful locations, the tumbling colourful villages of Cinque Terre ( five lands ) and the soft rolling hills and villas of iconic Tuscany.
The leaning tower of Pisa, Manarola and Vernazza in the Cinque Terre, Le Crete Senesi, World Heritage site Val d’Orcia, the Chianti region and Montepulciano .
After coming to terms with Pisa’s leaning tower you’ll make your way north to the five villages of the Cinque Terre in Liguria. The villages are all connected by a train that cuts through tunnels in the cliffs making it easy to jump on and off between them.
Colourful houses cling to the cliff tops and huddle around ridiculously quaint harbours, a setting that has virtually remained unchanged for centuries. The seascapes around Riomaggiore and Manarola with their colourful houses as backdrops are as atmospheric and photogenic as it gets at dusk, dawn and the blue hour.
You’ll also have time to explore a couple of the more compact villages such as Manarola and Vernazza during the day.
After feasting on and photographing the delights of the Ligurian coast you’ll track south by our own transport to Pienza, the renaissance town where the landscape is a total contrast to that of the previous days shooting. Basing ourselves in the World Heritage listed Val D’Orcia and town of Pienza for 3 nights, the photography here is unrivalled for a pure, subtle mix of rolling hills, Tuscan villas, Cypress trees and soft light at dawn and dusk.
We’ll also photograph and explore the medieval towns of Pienza, Montepulciano and Montelcino. Magical image making in one of the most photo rich parts of Europe. From here on our final day we’ll return to Pisa via Crete Senesi with some handpicked photo locations along the way.
In the evenings the wine will flow and combine with simple Tuscan and Ligurian flavours while by day you explore and photograph the villages, towns, seascapes and landscapes of these classic heart stirring regions, all photographed in glorious autumn light.

After a sunrise session, breakfast and some time to relax, you’ll have plenty time to explore an capture the scenes and reflections of the colourful village of Vernazza which we’ll visit by train in the afternoon. From here we’ll make a stop in Manarola for another dusk session overlooking the extremely photogenic harbour.
After a dawn session in Riomaggiore and breakfast we’ll spend an afternoon session exploring cliff top Corniglia and photographing the village and it’s little beach. You’ll then take the train back to Vernazza again to capture the dusk light on its picturesque and colourful harbour. From here it’s back to Riomaggiore by train for dinner and the chance to review some of the last few days images.
After a final seascape session in the Cinque Terre, you’ll travel back to Pisa and onto the heart of Tuscany. You’ll pass through the rolling clay hills of Le Crete senesi as well as numerous hill top towns and monasteries to our accommodation in the Val d’Orcia. La Crete and the Val d’Orcia are home to some of Tuscany’s finest landscape scenery, walled towns, buildings, churches and fine local produce. You’ll wander the town of Pienza with its break talking views of the surrounding hills at dusk before taking dinner at one of its many restaurants.
Day 6 and 7
